A  NEW  WAY  TO  PRAY

The “experts” agree – they all say,

You must rise up early and pray!

Begin with a look

At that wonderful book,

That’s the way to begin a new day.

So this morning I sprang up at 4 - - -

I have never done this before!

Eager to please,

I got down on my knees,

And fell fast asleep on the floor!

Tomorrow, I might stay in bed,

And snooze with my hubby instead.

Where does it say

That I have to pray

Before any of my family gets fed?

Well, I prayed and asked God what to do.

I said, “What way is pleasing to you?

Early or late?

(Late would be great)

But I’m willing to try something new!”

In the stillness He spoke to my heart.

“What matters is just that you start.

I want you to pray

At the start of each day,

And I’ll bless you if you do your part!”

So tomorrow I’ll greet the new day

By getting up early to pray.

And here is the reason,

It’s not just the season,

But I know that God wants it that way!
